The Sustainable Challenge
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
Each of the 17 Goals are integrated, one with another. Only an organisation of the size and scale of the United Nations would, could recognize that an action in one area will affect multiples of outcomes in others. Development in each goal must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability for all.
We know that throughout the world there are many disadvantaged countries. Some of our partners for example Ocean Bottle
are actively working in countries that are amongst those which are furthest behind, helping to limit plastic pollution, creating employment, educating local people about the best, most efficient ways to recycling so that their hard won efforts are not wasted.
The SDGs are designed to end poverty, hunger, AIDS, and discrimination against women and girls. The World Economic Forum advises that company leaders should identify which of the 17 SDGs are most relevant to the strategic goals of their business. In our example above Ocean Bottle is actively contributing across several goals, and through their experience learning which other goals are of strategic importance to their business. Our rolling images above offer a variety of actions that can fit and interact with other SDGs.
